Filming practice
Wednesday, November 25, 2015In our lesson we had to practice filming, and getting high quality recordings in a sequence that would total around 30 seconds. After a quick discussion, we decided to settle for a story where, a person is going to meet another (which is going to be tense and serious) in order to collect a pen. The quick script is as follows:
Person 1 walks down a corridor whilst person 2 waits impatiently. Person 1 then arrives at person 2's location.
Person 1: Do you have what I need?
Person 2: I have what you need.
Person 2 gives person 1 a pen.
Person 2: Good?
Person 1: Good.
The characters depart.
Below is the first version.
A very important thing I had to take from this was the fact that we had to imagine the film from the viewers perspective rather than ours, as we have context of the story and know what's going on. We have to let the viewer know what's going on by establishing settings, characters and motives. I learned in the process of editing that the clips should not be dragged out. We also discovered that we should properly plan out our filming, as we missed out some shots, such as the establishing shot. This means I've had to use parts of existing shots to try and make the shots flow. This looks a bit odd.
