Location planning
Wednesday, December 02, 2015
In lesson, we had a group discussion about the locations we could potentially use for filming.
During the opening scene, Alistair is pictured waking up and putting on parts of his costume, including his badge. In which case, we need a home environment. Since none of our bedrooms were suitable, we discussed how he could be shown waking up on the sofa in his uniform, surrounded by work to do with the investigation of the antagonists case (this would explain his vivid dream of one of the murders). We will be using one of our houses for this, our most likely advocate being Ewan.

We also discussed the work setting, where Alistair goes into his workplace - a police station. We have decided to email them to see if we would be able to use the police station for filming, as it would be the ideal setting. If not, we have two back-up plans:

1. The Oasis community Centre. Whilst this would also need permission, I live nearby so I would be able to go in and ask if we could temporarily use their facilities for our filming task.
2. School. Although it is not the most suitable but the most easily accessible, it is definitely an option. We could use a corridor (for example, in the A block or somewhere enclosed) and a meeting room. We would change aspects about it in order to create an atmosphere and visual setting more similar to that of an investigation room or police station.
Update 1
Amber was responsible for emailing the police station. Said email can be seen below.
We discussed the settings for the victims house and Alistair house. We decided we would use my house for the victim, due to the structure of my bathroom, as the landing leads straight to the bathroom.
We're still on the fence about Alistair's house, although the most likely setting will be Ewan's house. We will be gathering photos of each others' houses in order to see which portrays the mood most suitable for the scenes we are going to film.
Update 2
We were contacted back by the police station, and we have been allowed to use it as a filming location under certain circumstances (that the filming is short and in areas where classified information isn't stored). We discussed the settings for the victims house and Alistair house.
